24 Feb to 1 March 2020 : NSS Special Camp

Seven days NSS special was organised at village Naigavan, Tal Paithan, Dist Aurangabad.  Naigavan is 13 km from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad. Fifty NSS volunteers participated in this special camp.

Day 1 : 24 Feb 2020

Morning Session : Inauguration Function

Seven days NSS special camp at villege Naigavan, Tal Paithan, Dist Aurangabad was Inaugurated by the first lady of village Mrs Manjusha Raghode. Dr N. G. Patil, Principal MIT Aurangabad was the president for this event. Prof. Andhale, HoD BSH, MIT Aurangabad were the chief guest. Inauguration session was concluded with National Anthem.

Afternoon Session : Survey

After this inauguration session survey was conducted to build the Earthen Nala Bund for the water conservation. Earthen Nala Bund (ENB) is water retaining structure constructed across the slope. A Bund constructed out of local soil across the stream to check soil erosion, to store water and to drain out excess water by using spillway is called as Earthen Nala Bund.

Morning Session : Preparation of Foundation Strata

In morning session volunteers prepared foundation strata for the construction ENB.

Morning Session : Preparation of gunny bags

For constructing ENB, gunny bags with soil were prepared. More than 500 gunny bags were used for construction of two ENB.

Dr Urram Kalawane, Professor in Civil Engineering Department, MIT, Aurangabad visited the NSS special camp. He guided the volunteers on the topic ‘My Social Responsibility’

Day 7 : 01 Mar 2020

Morning Session : Completion of Earthen Nala Bund (ENB) and Valedictory Function

Two ENB of capacity 200000 and 150000 ltr were constructed in six days. Valedictory function was carried out after the visit to ENB  construction site. Mr. Butte Patil, Police Patil of the village was the chief guest for valedictory function.

Afternoon Session : Visit to Ideal Village Patoda

All the NSS volunteer along with faculties visited to ideal village Patoda.

Patoda  is a village located outskirt of Aurangabad city, its a tiny village with around 3500 population. Patoda is recognized as ideal village because of its efforts for eliminating water scarcity through various initiatives like water shed management, forest plantation, water harvesting, Grampanchayat provides most of facilities like drinking water, road, sanitation, street lights, free floor mill services effectively as tax collection is 100%.

Purpose of visit was to explore the best practices for the rural community development.

18 Feb 2020 : Blood Donation Camp

On the occasion of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, Blood donation camp was organised at Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad on 18 Feb 2020, in association with Dattaji Bhale Blood Bank, Aurangabad. 70 volunteers donated the blood on this occasion.

In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as “National Voters’ Day”. It has been started from January 26, 2011 to mark Commission’s foundation day.

Plogging run

On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of of ‘Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi’, FIT INDIA Plogging Run event (2 km running) conducted by MIT Aurangabad under banner of National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) At this time a run of 2 km was conducted from MIT Campus, Gate No-1 to Satara village area, Aurangabad. After completion of the run, plastic garbage was collected from Satara village road to MIT Aurangabad. The cooperation from Aurangabad Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police Control Aurangabad is appreciated. During this time, oath about ‘Say No To Plastic’ was conducted.Final year Mechanical engineering student Mr.Tushar Salunkhe given the oath.. Dr. Yadnaveer Kawade addressed this time.He said “In our everyday life we have to say no to plastic. We should protect our environment from plastic and habitual to clean our nearby areas. Simplicity and honesty is the best message from Mahatma Gandhi”.

Around 200 staff members and students from various MIT Institutions were participated in this programme.

The 2 km run and plastic garbage collection program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Dr. Yadnyaveer Kawade, President, G.S. Mandal, Aurangabad and Dr. Mrs. Shakuntala Lomte, Member, G.S. Mandal, Aurangabad.

As a part of celebration 150 birth anniversary of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi, a lecture talk was arranged in afternoon session by Prof. Chaman Lal retired as a professor in Hindi translation from Jawaharlal Nehru University.He is now Honorary advisor to Bhagat Singh Archives and Resource Centre, Delhi Archives of Delhi Govt.

12 September 2019 : Nirmalya Collection Drive

On every Ganapati Visarjan, wells in the city are choked with hundreds of tonnes of paper, plastic, thermocol, flowers fruits, and cloth. The practice of throwing these items in Visarjan Well enhances the water pollution.

Along with the city based NGO ‘Sahayog Foundation’, NSS volunteers participated in the Nirmalya Collection Drive, all the paper, plastic, thermocol, flowers fruits, and cloth items along with Ganesh Idol were coolected before the immersion, dry waste and wet waste were segregated. Dry waste was handed over for recycling and wet waste for composting to the Aurangabad Municipal Coorporation.

25 Volunteers from NSS unit participated in this drive.
